Manchester United Win FA Cup As Jesse Lingard Goal Sinks Crystal Palace

Finally, after all the disappointments of the Louis van Gaal era, the accusations of blandness and the permanent suspicion that a once-mighty club have been dramatically underachieving, Manchester United have remembered what it is like to win a trophy and the joys that football can bring.

Van Gaal’s position might still be under scrutiny but this was the happiest day of his two years in charge, courtesy of Jesse Lingard’s 2016 version of Lee Martin’s famous goal from 26 years earlier.

There will be no extra-time for Louis van Gaal at Manchester United but in the last 30 minutes of his Old Trafford career the Dutchman claimed the first major trophy of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era in one of the FA Cup’s most dramatic finals of recent years.

It was Jesse Lingard, a substitute who reacted the quickest to score when the ball broke loose in the penalty area with 110 minutes played and Crystal Palace already imagining what their first trophy in 110 years might look like in blue and red ribbons.

Yet for all that United have lost since Ferguson departed, they have not quite given up that ability to hunt down a victory even with just ten men on the pitch.

Congratulation to all Manchester United Fans all over the World
