According to reports on Thursday, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu relieved his media aides, including the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Godwin Adindu, of their job.
The sack of the governor’s media team was announced in a press statement issued by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo.
According to Nwakodo, the sack is with immediate effect and the affected
officers were directed to hand over government property in their
possession to his office. The statement quoted the governor as having
thanked the officers for their service to the state.
The list of sacked media team included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Electronic Media, Mr Ugochukwu Emezue, who is a one-time CPS to former Gov. Theodore Orji.
Others were Messrs Uche Nwosu, Ebere Uzoukwa, Ojo Maduekwe, Keshi Ukaegbu and Linda Osuala.
No official reason was given for the sack, which came barely one year after the inception of the administration.
A source told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) that the measure became necessary “because the media aides were working at cross-purposes.
