AKSU gets brand new buses

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eno J. Ibanga
on 4th May, 2016 commissioned and
presented a brand new eighteen (18)-
seater bus to the Students’ Union newly
inaugurated Executives as part of the
fulfilment of his promise to them during
their inauguration recently.The Vice-
Chancellor in company of Management
and Members of Senate officially
handed over the keys to the vehicle to
the Students’ Union President, Mr. Kufre
Akpanikot, noting that the bus would
ease the challenges of transportation
discomfort that is inevitable in the
discharge of students’ union duties.The
Vice-Chancellor advised the Students’
union President to accommodate the
needs of others when putting the bus to
use and prayed that the bus will not
bring calamity on the students and the
university as a whole.He further said
the University Management is putting
the students’ interest first, while sorting
out general challenges facing the
university community.

Prof. Ibanga added that the aim of the
University Management is to move the
university to a globally acceptable and
distinguished standard. He disclosed to
everyone present that the vehicle is
purchased using the Internally
Generated Revenue (IGR) of the
University.
The Students’ Union President, Mr.
Kufre Akpanikot said he is delighted to
see the fulfilment of the Vice-
Chancellor’s promise. He expressed
gratitude to the University Management
for the kind gesture coming at this
initial stage of his administration.He
particularly thanked the Vice-Chancellor
for keeping to his promise of providing
a bus within two weeks, but fulfilled the
promise even before the expiration of
two weeks. The President said it was a
double blessing for him as the handing
over ceremony coincided with his
birthday.He used the opportunity to
appreciate the Vice-Chancellor and
Management for the extension of
deadline and opening of the university
portal for another two weeks for
registration, and called on the students
to take advantage of the extension and
register for the semester.Mr. Akpanikot
assured students that his administration
is bent on bringing all to a harmonious
coexistence aimed at satisfying
academic, social and all round needs of
the students. He however called on his
fellow students to always put themselves
in the shoes of others before reacting to
grieving issues and implore them to
embrace dialogue and avoid irrational
decisions on matters affecting them.
