Ekiti doctors petition IGP, want adequate security

Doctors in the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, have asked the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, to provide adequate security for the hospital.
Some staff had staged violent protests following the death of two doctors from the hospital that were among the six doctors and a driver that died along Abuja-Kaduna road on April 24 while going for the Nigerian Medical Association’s Annual General Meeting.
The protesters had called for the immediate removal of the Chief Medical Director, Dr Majekodunmi Ayodele, saying the cause of the accident was diabolical.

Rising from an extra-ordinary meeting on Monday, the branch Medical and Consultants Association of Nigeria lamented that its members were assaulted in the violent protests staged by the staff.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting and read by its branch Chairman, Dr. Timothy Olajide, the doctors lamented the manners through which their colleagues were being prevented from duty and which could affect patients adversely.
